1968 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 145.012 - 67

1968 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 145.012 - 67

The 1968 Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 145.012-67 is one of the most historically significant vintage Speedmasters, representing the final reference to house the legendary Calibre 321 movement before Omega transitioned to the Calibre 861. Produced in the late 1960s, this reference features the classic 42 mm asymmetrical stainless steel case with crown guards, a design introduced to improve durability and functionality for professional use. The watch retains the iconic black step dial with an applied Omega logo (on earlier examples), tritium luminous markers, and the familiar tri-compax chronograph layout. It is paired with a black aluminum tachymeter bezel, often seen with the desirable “Dot Over 90” (DON) configuration on original examples.

Inside the watch is the revered Omega Calibre 321, a manual-winding column-wheel chronograph movement developed by Lemania and widely considered one of the finest chronograph calibres ever produced. It offers around 44 hours of power reserve and is prized for its smooth operation and historical importance. The 145.012 is especially notable because it was worn by NASA astronauts during the Apollo program, including Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, making it one of the references directly associated with the first Moon landing.
